I’ve been looking for a new foundation as my usual one has been discontinued. I saw this in my local Superdrug store and after testing it, (and a few others) on the back of my hand and parts of my face at the Nyx stand, I thought I would try it.

I liked the texture and it seemed to blend well, as far as I could see under the awful lighting in the store. It’s also buildable so you can add a couple more layers if you want more coverage, and it seems to stay put. I have ‘mature’ skin and I often find that some foundations designed for older skin tend to slide of my face or if they are very moisturising, they make me look like my face has melted! I once had a foundation demo at one of the make-up counters in Boots, it looked great so I bought a bottle, but by the time I’d finished the rest of my shopping and returned to the car, my face was a melty mess! I hastily backtracked to the store, showed them my melty face and returned the unopened bottle of super moisturising foundation for a refund! Other foundations just settle into my lines and wrinkles, accentuating them and, even worse, some oxidise too, leaving me with rather fetching orangey lines & wrinkles!
Make ‘Em Wonder foundation from Nyx did neither of these, I’m pleased with the coverage and how long it lasts, it does feel very light and not at all cakey. However, I think I chose the wrong shade, Buff, for my skintone. In the store when I blended a small amount from the tester on my hand & face, it looked a good match but the lighting was poor & once home, looking in the mirror in various lights and in daylight, it’s too yellowy for my skintone.
As I’m pleased with the coverage & the way it feels on my skin, I’m going to go choose another shade – there’s 45 shades to choose from! This time, though, I may go to a different store in the hope that the lighting will be a little better, and hopefully I’ll have found a decent, very affordable foundation.
I’ll keep you posted!
