Since visiting Portugal for a family wedding in 2023 I have developed a love of Portuguese wine. My favourite Portuguese white is a cheap (of course!) but very drinkable Vinho Verde available from Tesco. It’s called Por Do Sol and has a quite distinctive blue tinted bottle with a blue cap and a blue wave on the corner of the label, it’s so distinctive that, when in the wine aisle of our local Tesco, my young grandson always (very loudly) points it out as ‘Grandma’s favourite Wave Wine! It’s a very light wine, ever so slightly sparkling and only 9% abv so less likely to give you a fuzzy head the next morning! At just under five quid a bottle it’s great value so definitely a firm favourite in our house.

Mimo Moutinho, our second favourite Vinho Verde. Available from Aldi, it’s not quite as light or sparkling but is also 9% abv and still a very pleasant wine and also currently well under 5 quid a bottle, it’s also good value.

Both are very quaffable & definitely Muv Luvs!
